The Yadi connector for Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini
Yadi is a handwriting notebook in the browser (iPad, Mac, any computer). The connector lets the AI app you already use read your notebooks and write in them: typed notes, new pages and notebooks, and, on the paid plan, text, formulas and graphs in your own handwriting.
Server address for every app: https://eyespen.vercel.app/api/mcp. Sign-in is OAuth: you approve the connection on a Yadi page, choose which notebooks it may use and what it may do, and you can disconnect it at any time.
What it does
- Lists, searches and reads your notebooks as text, including the handwriting it has already read, and looks at a page as an image.
- Adds typed notes, checklists, pictures and pages, creates and renames notebooks and folders, and moves them.
- Writes in your own handwriting: text, formulas and simple graphs (paid plan; you teach Yadi your handwriting once, in the notebook's settings).
- Moves pages or notebooks to the bin (restorable for at least 30 days) and undoes its own last write.
- Answers questions you mark in the notebook for your AI.
It only sees the notebooks you granted to that connection, and it writes only when you ask it to. Every write returns a receipt, and it appears on every open device within a second.
Tools
The connector has three tools. Each takes an action field.
yadi_read: read only- Lists notebooks and folders, reads a page or a whole notebook as Markdown, searches, looks at a page as an image, and reports what Yadi learned of your handwriting. It changes nothing.
yadi_write: adds and changes, never removes- Typed notes, checklists, pictures, pages, notebooks, folders, and writing in your handwriting. A picture can be given as a public web address, which Yadi then downloads; that is the only time the connector reaches outside your account. A picture or a PDF crop from your computer goes in through
request_upload, see below. yadi_remove: removes, only what you asked- Moves pages or notebooks to the bin, erases objects, removes a folder (its contents move up), or undoes the connector's own last write. Nothing is deleted permanently by the connector.
Permissions
On the approval page you choose:
- Which notebooks: all of them (the default, new ones too) or only the ones you tick.
- Read: text, handwriting readings and page images of those notebooks.
- Write: typed notes, pages, notebooks and folders.
- Handwriting: writing on your pages in your own handwriting. This also lets the AI read the letter samples you taught.
- Questions: take and answer questions you send from inside a notebook.
- Sharing (off unless you tick it): ask to share a notebook with someone; nothing is shared until you approve it in Yadi.
The sign-in itself asks only for your account's basic profile (openid email profile) and to stay signed in (offline_access). A tool the connection was not granted answers with a clear message and does nothing.
Pictures and PDF crops from your computer
If your AI app can run commands on your computer (Claude desktop with a code or file tool, Codex), it can put a picture or a part of a PDF page into a notebook without sending the file through the chat:
- It asks
yadi_write(actionrequest_upload) for a one-time upload address in your own storage. - Your computer sends the file straight to that address (PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 4 MB; a PDF is first turned into page images on your computer).
- It places the picture on a page with
add_image, optionally cropping to just the part you want, as many parts of the same page as you need.
The address works once and for 15 minutes. The file is stored in your account, with your notebook, and nowhere else.
Free and paid
The free plan includes reading, search, typed notes, pages, notebooks and folders, within the free limits (10 notebooks, 200 pages each). Writing in your own handwriting through your AI is part of the paid plan. If you ask for it on the free plan, the connector says so and writes nothing; the AI can add the same text as a typed note instead. Plans are described on the Yadi website and bought only there, never inside an AI app.
Set up in Claude
- In Claude (web or desktop), open Settings > Connectors.
- Find Yadi in the directory and choose Connect. Before the listing is live: choose Add custom connector, name it Yadi, and paste the server address above.
- The Yadi approval page opens. Sign in, choose the notebooks and permissions, and approve.
- In a chat, turn on Yadi in the tools menu and ask, for example, "Show me my notebooks in Yadi".
Claude asks before each write the first time. You can choose "Always allow" per tool: yadi_read only reads, yadi_write adds, yadi_remove moves things to the bin or undoes.
Set up in ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open the apps directory, find Yadi and choose Connect. Before the listing is live: turn on Settings > Security and login > Developer mode, then in Settings > Apps choose Create, paste the server address above and choose OAuth.
- The Yadi approval page opens. Sign in, choose the notebooks and permissions, and approve.
- In a new chat, pick Yadi and ask about your notebooks.
Codex (same ChatGPT account): codex mcp add yadi --url https://eyespen.vercel.app/api/mcp, then codex mcp login yadi.
Set up with Gemini
Google offers three ways in. Which one works depends on your Google account.
- Google Antigravity (a personal Google account, 18 or over, available in Israel; works without a paid plan, with a weekly quota): add the server to
~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.jsonas"yadi": {"serverUrl": "https://eyespen.vercel.app/api/mcp"}undermcpServers. In Agent settings open Customizations, press Refresh, then Authenticate. The Yadi approval page opens: sign in, choose the notebooks and permissions, approve, and paste the code it shows back into Antigravity. - Gemini on the web (custom apps: a personal account in the US only, 18 or over, in English): Settings > Connected Apps > Custom apps > Add a custom app, paste the server address above, then approve on the Yadi page. In a chat, type
@and pick Yadi. - Gemini CLI (since 18 June 2026 only with a paid Gemini API key or a Code Assist license):
gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user yadi https://eyespen.vercel.app/api/mcp, then/mcp auth yadiinside Gemini CLI.
If Gemini lists the tools but cannot use them, connect with https://eyespen.vercel.app/api/mcp?client=gemini instead: the same server, with the tools described in the form Gemini's models read.
Example prompts
- "What notebooks do I have in Yadi? Which one did I change last?"
- "Read page 2 of my Linear Algebra notebook and summarize what is on it."
- "Search my notebooks for 'eigenvalue' and tell me where it appears."
- "Add a typed checklist to the last page of my Physics notebook: review chapter 3, solve exercise 4, ask about question 7."
- "Write the quadratic formula on a new page of my Math notebook, in my handwriting."
- "Take the graph from page 3 of lecture.pdf on my computer and put just that graph on a new page of my Physics notebook, with a caption."
Disconnect
Open the AI page in Yadi and press Disconnect next to the app. The connection stops at once: its key no longer opens any notebook. You can also remove the connector in the AI app (Claude: Settings > Connectors; ChatGPT: Settings > Apps), but only disconnecting in Yadi ends its access on our side. What it wrote stays in your notebooks, marked as written by that AI, and you can erase it like anything else.
Troubleshooting
- The app says it cannot reach Yadi, or the connection expired
- Open the AI page in Yadi, press Disconnect next to that app, then connect again from the app. This also refreshes which notebooks and permissions it has.
- It does not see a notebook
- That notebook was not shared with this connection. Disconnect on the AI page, connect again, and select it on the approval page.
- "PLAN_REQUIRED"
- Writing in your handwriting is part of the paid plan. Nothing was written. Ask for a typed note instead, or see the plans on the Yadi website.
- "NO_HANDWRITING": the handwriting was not taught yet
- In the notebook, open Settings > My handwriting, choose Teach it, and write the short calibration pages once. Then ask again.
- "PAGE_FULL"
- The page you named has no room. Ask the AI to continue on a new page, or to let the text flow onto the next pages.
- It wrote, but I do not see it
- A receipt means the change is saved. Open devices update within a second; if a page was open offline, it updates when the device is back online.
Privacy and data
The connector reads only the notebooks you granted, and only while connected. What it reads goes to the AI provider you chose, under that provider's policy. Yadi receives only what the AI sends in a tool call (for example the text of a note to add); it never receives your chat history with the AI. Yadi keeps a record of the connection (which app, what it may do, which notebooks, when it was connected, last used and disconnected) and marks what the AI wrote with its name. We do not train AI models on your notebooks or your handwriting. Details: privacy policy and terms.
Support
Write to yadi.support@gmail.com, or use Help and support in the notebook's settings when signed in. More ways on the support page.
